| | In September, Laurie visited Le Royal Monceau Raffles Paris, http://www.leroyalmonceau.com/#/home/, which recently reopened after a complete redesign by the legendary Philippe Starck. Story to run next spring in Cigar Aficionado.
In July, Laurie went to Fleurier, Switzerland, to visit the workshops at Parmigiani, then onto Montreux for the Montreux Jazz Festival, which the brand sponsors. We saw performances by Chaka Kahn, Paolo Nutini, and Ziggy Marley, among others. Last June, Laurie traveled to Glashutte, Germany, to tour the workshops of A. Lange & Sohne. After the factory tour, we went to Salzburg, Austria, for the Whitsun Festival, which was sponsored by A. Lange & Sohne. In May, Laurie went to Capri with Omega for the launch of the latest Planet Ocean watch collection. She will also be researching an insiders' travel guide to the famous Italian island getaway. Laurie attended her 12th consecutive Baselworld fair to review the latest watch and jewelry introductions. In March, Laurie attended the opening of the Yacht Club Costa Smerelda superyacht marina and the debut Superyacht Regatta & Rendezvous in Virgin Gorda, B.V.I. She sailed on the superyacht Sojana for the last day of racing. Her story will appear in Robb Report: Click
Laurie attended the invitation-only 2011 SIHH watch fair in Geneva, where she previewed new models from dozens of leading brands. Before arriving in Geneva, she visited the newly renovated Grand Hotel Park in Gstaad, and she explored spa and hotel stories at the Grand Hotel Bellevue in Gstaad, the Grand Hotel Victoria Jungfrau in Interlaken, and La Reserve in Geneva. In December 2010, Laurie traveled to Paris for a stay at Plaza Athenee (http://www.plaza-athenee-paris.com/), where Alain Ducasse has launched his new culinary concept: Essentiel, which focuses on revealing the true flavors of high-quality ingredients.
